Release the Binds

Many of us suffer from feeling constricted. Our lives feel tight, there’s not enough time. Or our bodies feel tight and clenched up in different areas (head, throat, stomach, shoulders). The constriction can show up as intrusive anxiety, anger that takes us over, a feeling of doom or dread that we’re going to be “found out” or fail, having to maintain a facade that exhausts us, feeling sad or weighed down by pointlessness or hopelessness. Any one of these can feel like a tight bind in our heads, our bodies, our hearts. They can make it hard to trust ourselves, relax, or feel peaceful inside.

When we feel constricted, it can be harder to be present for our lives. Harder to connect with other people, harder to focus on work or on pleasurable activities, harder to make decisions, harder to know what we need and to protect ourselves against intrusion. We may feel besieged, overwhelmed, and exhausted.

I have been there myself, and my therapist helped me release the binds. What I love about being a therapist is helping other people do the same.

When you come for sessions with me, I join with you to release these binds. Loosen the constraints. Find new room to breathe and room to be. Find your footing, your purpose, your strength and creativity.

I start by welcoming you with whatever you’re bringing. You got anger? Bring it. Sadness? I’m with you. Anxiety? Let’s hear it. Don’t know what you got? Perfect, I can ask you questions, and we’ll find it together. You can tell me all of the things. Vent, get it out. Or take it slow. All perfect.

I’m going to use my skills as an insightful listener to notice things that might have meaning for you, and we can explore. I’m listening to you carefully so I can point out possible areas for exploration, and I’ll ask questions that help you find clarity. I’m going to help you start to tune in to yourself moment-to-moment and actually start to experience your right-to-exist, your ability to discern and to know yourself. I’m going to help you process old or recent hurts, and to get to the bottom of what is causing that constriction.

I believe I can help you untangle, get out of the tight-hold, and expand into the you that you want to be.
